Stripe and FedEx Dataworks plan a small business financing solution using supply chain information to inform lending analysis. It is planned for 2027 and is not currently available; the announcement gives no loan terms. The companies said the first joint solution is expected to launch in 2027 under a new strategic collaboration. The plan brings FedEx network signals together with Stripe financial infrastructure, according to the companies’ announcement.
The proposed service would use shipment activity, inventory movement and fulfillment performance from FedEx Dataworks. Stripe Capital would use those operational signals as part of financing analysis. The companies said the information could help Stripe make lending decisions more quickly than processes based on bank statements and credit scores.
Small Business Financing Uses Operating Data
The small business financing plan centers on whether information generated as goods move through a supply chain can contribute to an assessment of a business seeking financing. FedEx Dataworks is the insights and intelligence subsidiary of FedEx Corp. Stripe provides the financial infrastructure in the proposed arrangement. The release described a joint solution under development, rather than an existing product available to applicants.

FedEx Corp. executive vice president and chief digital and information officer Vishal Talwar, who is also president of FedEx Dataworks, said the FedEx network moves more than $2 trillion in global commerce each day. He said that activity gives the company visibility into how businesses operate. His statement describes the rationale FedEx sees for contributing operational information to the planned financing work.
Stripe co-founder and president John Collison described a small business shipping a thousand packages a week as an example of operational momentum. He said the partnership could turn that activity into access to growth finance through Stripe Capital. The example was illustrative; the announcement did not set an eligibility threshold or promise that a particular shipping volume would produce financing.
What the Companies Said About the Plan
The source announcement did not specify loan terms, an application process, participating businesses or how the signals would be weighted in an underwriting decision. It also did not provide a launch date beyond 2027. The stated small business financing plan is to use supply chain intelligence to help inform financing analysis, not to replace every other input.

FedEx and Stripe announced a second part of their work: FedEx will begin using Stripe as an option for payment processing. According to the release, adding more than 50 new payment options to FedEx checkouts will expand choices for customers globally. That payment-processing arrangement is separate from the proposed use of operating data in financing analysis.
Small Business Financing Plans Remain in Development
FedEx had previously described FedEx Dataworks as part of its investment in tools to digitize supply chains, optimize routing and give customers greater shipment visibility, PYMNTS reported in March. That earlier report concerned the company’s broader initiatives. It does not establish additional features for the financing solution now planned with Stripe.
Stripe said in its 2025 annual letter that businesses using its platform generated $1.9 trillion in total volume in 2025, an increase of 34% year over year. The company said that amount equaled about 1.6% of global gross domestic product. Those figures describe Stripe’s platform volume and are distinct from the more than $2 trillion in global commerce Talwar cited for the FedEx network.
Other coverage has examined operational pressures facing small businesses and the role of shipping workflows for small firms. A separate story on a growing small business looks at a company’s expansion. Those articles address related small-business operations and growth, not the Stripe-FedEx collaboration.
The next stated milestone is development of the companies’ first small business financing solution for a planned 2027 launch. Until then, the announcement provides a broad description of the data and financing infrastructure they intend to combine, while leaving product terms and access details unspecified.
